The Right Care for Your Sofa

The right care varies depending on the fabric of the piece of furniture. A leather sofa, for example, requires completely different care than upholstered furniture due to its nature. Sofas made of faux leather should be wiped regularly with a damp cloth, but never creamed, as care products have a negative effect on artificial leather. Upholstered furniture requires different care. You can also clean the metal frame with a damp cloth. The upholstery is not quite as easy: first and foremost, you should ensure that the upholstered sofa gets enough oxygen, so regular airing is recommended.

The upholstery and covers should also be beaten regularly, as this not only removes dust and dirt particles, but also loosens the upholstery for greater seating comfort. With decorative cushions, the cushion covers can often be removed and washed. Depending on the material, this can also be done with the seat cushions of the sofa. To remove coarse dust that has accumulated, you can simply use a vacuum cleaner. To remove stains, you will need to use a damp cloth and neutral soap. Here, you should take particular care to use a damp (not wet) cloth that does not leave any marks. It is best to use a bucket of lukewarm water (if your tap water is very hard, you can also use distilled water) and a little cleaning agent. First dampen the stain to be treated and then press down on it with the damp cloth. This will often allow lighter stains to be absorbed by the damp cleaning cloth without damaging the surface too much. For stubborn stains, we recommend using light, circular movements.
